Ahead of the Beijing Olympics, China’s LCD TV market has been forecasted to post 54 percent or higher growth compared to last year.
According to market research firm Displaybank on February 20, China’s LCD TV market is expected to grow significantly this year to approximately 15,500,000 units -- exceeding initial expectations.
Displaybank explained that such forecast indicates that although the size of China’s LCD TV market had been about 10,000,000 units last year, growth of 54 percent or higher is expected with the Olympic Games ahead; 15,500,000 units is about 15 percent of the worldwide LCD TV volume.
Displaybank said that ahead of the Beijing Olympics, demand for TV panels has been solid even during the first quarter which is usually a slack season and that prices have held up since December last year.
Meanwhile, China’s LCD monitor market is forecasted to grow 25 percent to 26,000,000 units this year while sound growth -- a 23 percent year-on-year increase to 7,000,000 units -- is also projected in the laptop market.
A Displaybank insider said that significant growth is anticipated in China’s LCD TV market with average annual growth of 36.5 percent until 2011.
